Blueberries are one of the best fruits to brew with because of their light, crisp and refreshing character. This blueberry dominated beer is extremely refreshing with light hopping which compliments the fruit.
1 can Blackrock Dry
1 can Blackrock light unhopped malt extract
1 Packet Dry Brewing Yeast (under lid of Blackrock Dry)
3 Cans Blueberries in Light Syrup or 500grams frozen or fresh blueberries.
In your clean blender, purée the fruit, and set it aside to add later. If using fresh blueberries you will need to boil for 5 minutes to kill any wild yeast that could spoil your fermentation. These can be added to your malt extracts without cooling them down)
Follow the instructions on the back of your Blackrock Dry can. Add hot water to your 2 cans of malt extract. Pour in the pureed fruit and stir vigorously to mix well. Make volume up to 22.5 litres at a temperature between 18 to 28 degrees celcius.
Sprinkle yeast into fermenter and allow to sit for 5 minutes. Stir vigorously again, then screw on lid. Ferment at a consistent temperature within the range stated above for approximately 2 weeks until a consistent hydrometer reading is achieved 2 days in a row.
