Immensely rich with an intense sweet roast flavour and distinct hoppiness.
1 can Blackrock Miners Stout
1 can Blackrock unhopped dark
1 can Blackrock Bock
Approximately 40 grams NZ Cascade hop pellets ( purchase online or from a Brewing supplies shop)
Follow the instructions on the back of your Blackrock cans. Do not add any sugar as the instructions say. Cascade hops are added to the malt extract with hot water. Mix thoroughly and make volume up to 22.5 litres at a temperature between 18 to 28 degrees celcius.
Sprinkle both sachets of yeast off the hopped cans of extract into fermenter and allow to sit for 5 minutes. Stir vigorously again, then screw on lid.
Ferment at a consistent temperature within the range stated above for approximately 2 weeks until a consistent hydrometer reading is achieved 2 days in a row.
Note: If you want to limit particulate matter from the hops in your beer you can place hop pellets in a muslin cloth or bag. Alternately once fermentation has finished decant beer off the sediment and leave another day before bottling. Remember to use clean sterilised vessels.
